- Audience

- Click-Through Rate
Often abbreviated "click-thru rate," or "CTR," this is the number or percentage of recipients who achieve a campaign's ultimate goal... which is generally the most important measure of a campaign's success.
- Conversion
is the number or percentage of recipients that complete a promotion's ultimate goal. Conversions are also defined as the number of actual sales derived from a promotional sales campaign, which is generally the most important measurement of a campaign's success.
- Cookie
is a file on your computer that records information of where you have been while surfing the internet. The browser stores this information, which allows a site to remember the browser in future transactions or requests. Since the internet's protocol has no way to remember requests, cookies read and record a user's browser type and IP address (your IP address), and store this information on the user's own computer. The cookie can be read only by a server in the domain that stored it.

The process by which an individual consumer is added to a marketing list, wherein he or she signs up to receive offers from third party companies based upon various areas of interest (Example: golf products, home improvement).
- CPM
is an abbreviation for "Cost Per Thousand." The "M" in the abbreviation is the Roman numeral for one thousand. The Cost Per Thousand simply stands for the amount for one thousand of a particular advertising method.

This term refers to the rate of successfully delivered emails to recipients' Inboxes.
- Domain
the part of the DNS (Domain Naming System) name that specifies details about the host. A domain is the last 3 letters after the final dot, and it tells you what kind of organization is hosting the website. There are six top level domains commonly used in the U.S. They are: .com (commercial); .edu (education); .net (network operations); .gov (U.S. Government); .mil (U.S. Military); and .org (organization). There are other two-letter domains which represent countries, such as: .uk (United Kingdom), and so on.

is an abbreviation for "Hyper-Text Transfer Protocol." HTTP is a standard method of publishing information as hypertext in HTML format on the internet. HTTP is the format of the World Wide Web. When a browser sees "HTTP" as the beginning of an address, it knows that it is viewing a WWW page.
- Hyperlink
also called a "link," is the clickable link in text or graphics on a webpage that takes you to another place on the same page, another page, or whole other site.

is a word or phrase to focus an online search.

to request that an email list owner take your name off of the list or at least make sure you are not sent any promotional e-mails.
- ROI
This acronym stands for return on investment; i.e. how much money one receives back from campaign as opposed to how much he or she spent on the campaign.
